  • Don't Call It a Dream. Call It a Plan.

What is your dream destination? Where have you always wanted to go? It’s time to turn that dream into a plan by taking action. When it comes to travel, one of the best things you can do to turn that travel dream into reality is to plan ahead.

The earlier you plan your trip, the more likely you are to get exactly the trip experience you want: the hotel room with the perfect view, the cruise cabin in the best location, the plane seat that is not between strangers, or the rental car that will fit everyone and their luggage comfortably.

When you plan early, you are also more likely to get the best prices. Many trip operators offer early booking specials or other deals that save money for those who plan in advance.

So give us a call at 434-296-0171 and let us know your dream destination for 2019 or 2020. We can get started on that now, helping you plan the trip of your dreams at the best price.

  • Clearing U.S. Customs

Want to get through U.S. customs more quickly, but don’t want to pay for the Global Entry program?

Over the last couple of years, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol has been making the customs and immigration process easier for American travelers. There are two free options worth noting:

    1. Preclearance is a process that enables U.S. citizens to go through the immigration, customs, and agricultural inspections at the airport in the country they are visiting, before they return to the United States. Offered in select airports in Canada, Ireland, the Caribbean, and Abu Dhabi, Preclearance ultimately saves U.S. citizens a lot of time by doing this process before they depart rather than after they land. I recently used Preclearance in Dublin, and it was fantastic. It meant that I could go through all of the CBP processes during my layover in Dublin. It also meant that when I landed in the U.S., I just picked up my bags and drove home. No extra lines and no extra waiting after a long flight.

    2. A newer option is Mobile Passport Control. This allows U.S. citizens to use the Mobile Passport app to complete the entry information and answer the typical questions. You get an electronic receipt that you show to the U.S. CBP officer. It is much like the Automated Passport Control kiosks found in many airports, except it is an app on your phone that lets you start the process a little bit earlier. The Mobile Passport app is free and can be used in many airports, including Washington Dulles and Baltimore/Washington International. It can also be used at Port Everglades if you are returning from a cruise.

Ultimately, both of these options help to speed up the process and let you spend less time in line so that you can get on your way more quickly. And that means a lot, especially when you are returning from a long flight or late at night.

  • Holiday Travel Plans?

What are your plans for the holidays this year? Do they involve cooking for a crowd, buying presents, and hosting relatives? Are you exhausted just thinking about it? Why not travel this holiday season and spend some quality time together with less stress.

Maybe you picture yourself and your family enjoying stunning mountain scenery, swooshing down the slopes during the day, and enjoying a cozy fire at night. Or maybe you picture yourselves playing on a beach or lying in hammocks somewhere warm and tropical. Or maybe you want to ring in the new year in a European city? The important thing is that you are together, celebrating the holidays and making memories.

Traveling with your family over the holidays can be a great way to expand on existing family traditions (that Scrabble tournament is so much more fun on a family cruise!) or start new ones that center around time spent together—without as much work. Travel also makes a great gift.

So call a family meeting, get some ideas where you want to go, request that vacation time, and come see us for options.

  • The #1 Tourist Destination in Europe

    8/10/2018 3:59:06 PM Link 0 comments | Add comment

Looking for the hottest spot to go in Europe? It’s not the Eiffel Tower or Buckingham Palace or the Trevi Fountain. It’s Disneyland Paris! Just finishing its 25th Anniversary Celebration, Disneyland Paris, like all Disney destinations, is a fantastic destination that has something for just about everyone to enjoy.

With two theme parks, a Disney Village shopping and dining district, and 6 hotels, Disneyland Paris would be a great place to spend part of your next vacation to Paris. It has everything you expect from a Disney destination—spectacular attractions/rides, great food, family-friendly activities, incredible service, and Disney characters—all with a special French flair.

If you’re a Disney fan, this place is one not to miss. I've been to all of the US parks, and I wasn't sure what to expect. Disneyland Paris felt familiar and oh-so-different at the same time. The attraction that looks like it’s going to be the same as one you’ve experienced at Magic Kingdom Park or Disneyland Park in the US is going to have a unique twist that surprises you. When you want a snack, try the crepe cart to sample this delicious French specialty. They don’t have those in the US parks!

So relish the familiarity of a Disney park experience and be delighted by the French touches that make it one-of-a-kind. If you haven’t been here yet and you’re a Disney fan, you need to start planning this trip!

    Details and Recommendations

Getting there: Located just outside of Paris, Disneyland Paris is accessible via a train station just a 2-minute walk from the parks, as well as direct bus service from Charles de Gaulle airport. We used the bus service and found it to be very easy to find, and it took us directly to our Disney hotel. If you’re already in Paris and just want to go for the day, there are daily shuttle options from the city of Paris to Disneyland Paris that will let you enjoy the magic for a day without spending a night.

Staying there: Choose from Disney hotels or partner hotels close by. There are plenty of options.

How long: Disneyland Paris is worth a 2-4 day stay. Two days gives you a day in each park. If you want to see it all, they will be full days. 3 or 4 days gives you a little more time to slow down and take it all in.

Don’t miss: Crush’s Coaster (roller coaster) and Bistrot Chez Remy for some very special ratatouille
